Project Description

Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles: A musical message from heaven

Things are going well for multi-instrumentalist Cory Henry and his latest project. The three-time Grammy Award winner already perched at success playing with Snarky Puppy, but accounts for supporting many other great artists like Lalah Hathaway, Yolanda Adams, Boyz 2 Men, Bruce Springsteen and The Roots. With over 16 million views on YouTube, tens of thousands followers on social media and an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Cory and his Apostles are blowing up the musical scale.

When a 6-year old Cory played at the Apollo Theater in New York City’s Harlem, he knew he was destined for great things. His technical skills allow him to tell a story through music, integrating jazz, gospel and funk into the storyline. Already touring at the age of 19, Cory soon became a wanted keyboardist to play with the big names in music. When his first solo album ‘First Steps’ reached #1 on the iTunes Jazz Chart in 2014, he marked his name into the genre.

Although best known for his impeccable solos, Cory knew he had to share the stage to fully send the musical message across. Handpicking some of the best instrumentalists in the world, he gathered The Funk Apostles. As true messengers of funky rhythms, their television and live performances have garnered them a following of biblical proportions. No more clicking the ‘thumbs up’ button to view their performance, come and let yourself be enlightened at this year’s CSJF live spectacle!
